Proliant 3000 Dual Processors under Windows 2000

I have a Proliant 3000 with dual processors that had been working fine under NT 4.0. I used Smartstart 5.40 to erase the system and install Windows 2000. The install seemed to go fine until the initial boot after installation when Windows 2000 bluescreened with the following message: "Multi Processor Configuration Not Supported"

I have updated to the lastest possible BIOS (E39 4/19/2000) I have also pulled one of the prcessors, re-installed Windows 2000 and tried to upgrade from MPS uniprocessor to MPS multiprocessor and still get the same bluescreen message. Am I missing somthething or does the Proliant 3000 not support dual processors under Windows 2000?

Don't know about your particular config, but I have a 3000 dual-333 (bios E39) that's been running Windows 2000 Server for a while.

I do have a weird restart/shutdown issue, however (it's posted to another thread in this forum) -- the box goes to a blank screen w/ flashing cursor at the end of a shutdown or restart from Windows. I have to manually cycle the power. Hope you enjoy visiting the server room...

the version of win2000 may be the issue, try a different version, is if professional, try server, or adv server, i have a dual 300 overclocked to 333 runing win server 2003, you should not have a problem with 2000.

Hi Scott.

First: Have a good look at the processors. You will see a stepping number on the processor. Check that both processors are the same. If not, put the *earliest* number in the first slot.

I believe there is a later BIOS available. I gather that you have a 333MHz system.

Check you have the latest version of the BIOS by going here:
