Do you have a source for 4.7-4.9?

Re: Proliant 3000 bombing/freezing using SmartStart

I may be getting somewhere...

I ran the Server Diagnostics disk on loop and found the following errors:

Error 6617-14
ACD Read Random=1
Error, Error Limit Exceeded

This appears to happen when testing the CD-ROM drive. Has happened on each pass so far. Not sure if the CD disc itself plays a part in this, so I'm trying another disc in the drive while testing.

If anyone has any confirmation, please let me know.

Re: Proliant 3000 bombing/freezing using SmartStart

Swapped out CD-ROM again and ran Server Diags. This new CD-ROM drive passed.

Tried to boot up with SmartStart using the new CD-ROM drive, but the computer froze at the red/white SmartStart for Servers screen (guy with van).

Shut it down and tried to boot up again...same problem. It will not pass the splash screen.

Did you try system erase again?

Re: Proliant 3000 bombing/freezing using SmartStart

Is the memory in the right slot. They are numbered in an order. Look on the panel, it shows the order of slots. Is your cd-rom set at master or slave as this can cause problems. Do you have the setup diskettes, you can download them from HP's site.
I do have copies of earlier SmartStart, if you need one let me know.

Re: Proliant 3000 bombing/freezing using SmartStart

Just tried Syserasing the system again with the new CD-ROM in the system...did not work..froze at the same screen again.

RAM is in the proper slot.

Re: Proliant 3000 bombing/freezing using SmartStart

The support software on floppy is at the following site:

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/8_1112.html#33

I have a feeling you have been there, but the boot configuration uses four floppies and this may be of some help.

Re: Proliant 3000 bombing/freezing using SmartStart

Eric,

When you say that you just tried Syserasing the system again with the new CD-ROM in the system. Do you mean that tried to run system erase from the CD and failed because that is not what I intended.

I suggest that you download the system erase utility from http://h18004.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/17918.html and run it from floppy disk.

Sorry if you have already done this but I need to be sure.
