Re: Proliant 3000 bombing/freezing using SmartStart
I ran the Server Diagnostics disk on loop and found the following errors:
Error 6617-14
ACD Read Random=1
Error, Error Limit Exceeded
This appears to happen when testing the CD-ROM drive. Has happened on each pass so far. Not sure if the CD disc itself plays a part in this, so I'm trying another disc in the drive while testing.
If anyone has any confirmation, please let me know.

Re: Proliant 3000 bombing/freezing using SmartStart
Tried to boot up with SmartStart using the new CD-ROM drive, but the computer froze at the red/white SmartStart for Servers screen (guy with van).
Shut it down and tried to boot up again...same problem. It will not pass the splash screen.

I have a feeling you have been there, but the boot configuration uses four floppies and this may be of some help.

Re: Proliant 3000 bombing/freezing using SmartStart
When you say that you just tried Syserasing the system again with the new CD-ROM in the system. Do you mean that tried to run system erase from the CD and failed because that is not what I intended.
I suggest that you download the system erase utility from http://h18004.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/17918.html and run it from floppy disk.
Sorry if you have already done this but I need to be sure.
