Proliant 3000 no POST

I was given two 3000 servers without PSU CPU HDD etc.. after getting a PII 350 with VRM and a PSU, I am unable to get either to POST.
the VAUX LED is on all the time. Green LED by CPU is on with VRM installed, red error LED is off. there is a green LED by the VAUX that is also on. the LCD remains at the copyright message. I have no POST beeps, nothing. I know the CPU is good.
Can anyone please point me in the right direction to get something out of these?
Thank you

Re: Proliant 3000 no POST

Hello Paul,
Please reseat all the components and cables. Especially the Memory board. It usually snaps in when seated properly.

Re: Proliant 3000 no POST

I have had the memory stick in both slot 1 and slot 5 on both of the 3000's. should I get a memory POST error with no RAM installed?

Re: Proliant 3000 no POST

I have a Compaq Proliant 3000 2xPIII/500 that is experiencing the exact same problem. VAUX is amber. All other LEDs green/good. Have you been able to identify what was at fault with your system? Please advise. Thanks!

Re: Proliant 3000 no POST

Hi,

we can go folowing steps.
1)Use the SW2 - System Maintenance Switch Settings. Maker server is power down then put switch 6 to on position for clearing the Clear NVRAM. then power up the server. wait for a file then make it off then put switch back to off then powen on the server again.

2)
Different Generations
Due to the many different chassis versions and processor releases of the ProLiant 3000, the option part information is broken down by processor speed. From the list below select the processor model you need part number information for.

300 and 333 MHz Models
400 - 600 MHz Models
Where as we having the P II 350
do you have part no for same.

3) Does we make any changes in
SW1 - Processor Speed Switch Settings

4)I still nothing powrks then go for Proliant BIOS recover.

Re: Proliant 3000 no POST

I think the problem is you stated that you have the memory stick (single) in both slots 1 and 5. You need the memory to be installed in banks of 2 to work. Also you dont mention whether or not you have a termination board installed in the slot where no CPU is present. You also need this.
