Proliant 3000 problems

i have a proliant 3000, got it with ntohing but the baord in it and was told it would support slot 1 pIII's and i had a spare so i put a pIII 500mhz 512k cache 2.0v and it wont turn on, no display and the lcd just reads the model number, i have no drives in the array and its geting power, all leds are lit up and the fans go on but nothing else happens.

Hello Stephen,
Please post the S.N of the PL3000 in question and I shall let you know if this will support PIII 500 or not.

Stephen,

You must have a voltage regulator module (VRM) in together with your CPU. The switch settings for 500Mhz are 1 and 4 on, 2,3,5 and 6 off on the processor switch pack (nearest VRM socket 2).
Memory SDRAM starts in socket 5 (nearest CPU1 slot) then socket 1 (nearest CPU2 slot).
The detailed diagram on the lid should show you all the locations.
Check that both led's on the hot-plug power supply come on steady green (not flashing)when you power it up.

the serial number on the unit is d921cmh10111, thank you for your help
