Proliant 3000 windows install issues

Please help. This is driving me bonkers.
I have a Pro 3000 rack unit
it originally had 1 p2 350 cpu
with 256 m ram
and a compaq 225 raid card with
5 drives at raid 5
this worked fine
I upgraded to 2 p2 350 cpus
and 1.5 G ram.
What I find now is that I cant install windows.
It gets as far as "Starting Windows"
at the end of the dos session then stops.
I put on Windows 98 which after rebooting from
the initial set up came up with:
"error:no available conventional memory
cannot load himem.sys"
Please note that I have reformed the array
and reinstalled a system partition.
The system boots up fine.
your thoughts and help would be appreciated.

Re: Proliant 3000 windows install issues

Hi Prashant the only fault the IML
gives is "rear cpu fan failure"
but this doesn't halt the system in any way.
I have used win XP,win 2k server and win2k3
server (as well as win 98)but each time it just seems to freeze or stall when windows
actually begins to install.
I have even gone back to the original
hardware configuration but again nogo.

Don.

McLaren,

Try install the operating system using the smartstart cd. The SmartStart 5.20 should work fine.

Or else we can run a daignostics using the smartstart cd on server in loops to validate the hardware.
