I want to add another processor in my Proliant 3000, what changes do I have to make to add the additional processor.

You need to be sure the second processor is the same speed, and has the same stepping code as the first. Also, you will need a VRM for the second processor.

Thanks Dale. The second processor is the same and I have the VRM. From memory, I know I have to go into the SCU??? Isn't there something else?

Actually, running the scu is not required to make the second processor functional. It is probably a good idea to run through it once the processor is in place and recognized.

PMFJI: you really *do* need to go into SCU, in advanced mode, and ensure that the BIOS is set to fully mapped. If I understand this correctly, this ensures that hardware IRQs (e.g. from NICs) are actually distributed across both CPUs, steered by the BIOS. Otherwise although you'll be running an SMP system at the o/s level, at the hardware level it'll be a single CPU system.
