Proliant 380 G5 Write caching Question

I have several DL380 & DL360's with BBWC and batterys in them. Caching is enabled thru the HP Array utility, but I tried to enable it under the disk managment/Computer Management in Windows Policies, but the change won't take. It is possible to enable it in windows, or should I just leave it and let the HP Array utilities handle the caching?

Thanks!!

Re: Proliant 380 G5 Write caching Question

hi,

i would recomend to use caching functionality only on the RAID ARRAY cache. The cache is batery protected.

I think this option should be turned on. It is turned on on my W2003 server. Perhaps you need a restart.
The write cache for the individual drives that make up the array should be off. But this done by default through acu.

Re: Proliant 380 G5 Write caching Question

let HP manage it, at the end, the arrays are managed by the HP controller (hardware) and not by Windows, windows will only see one drive even if phisically are thousands of them.
