Proliant 400 RAM issue

Hi all
I'm trying to upgrade the RAM in a Proliant 400 server which has 2 x 256Mb modules and 1x64Mb module. When I replace the 64Mb Module with a 256Mb module, the server powers on and hangs with "Proliant 400" showing in the bottom right corner and nothing else. The hard drive light also comes on and stays on. Any one have any ideas?

Thanks
Trevor

Re: Proliant 400 RAM issue

Hi
3 x 256MB is a valid config. The server uses EEC does the new module have this?

Re: Proliant 400 RAM issue

Hi and thanks for your reply. The Proliant is a 400 6/450 (Pentium 2) and I am using 3 x Kingston RAM Part No. KTC1966/256. I suspect that the motherboard may have a problem :-(

I'm using 2 x IDE hard drives, 1 x IDE CD and the SCSI controller is connected to a Tape Drive.

Regards
