Proliant 5000 HDD setup
Using the SMART-2DH Array Controller I am trying to connect 4 drives to this server (server case, not rackmount). How do I connect them?
The system has a cdrom and fdd (connected to the systemboard) and I am unsure as to where to connect the other end of the cable from the Array controller. There are 2 scsi connectors that fit it (ultra wide) on the back plane. One at the top and one at the bottom.
I also understand that I should not have the ids of the hdds set (eg - all to zero) as the server takes care of this automatically.
I am planning to run 4 hdds in the system (all on compaq casing) 4 X 4.x gb hdds, but first have to make sure they get recognized.
Will the array controller recognize them or do I have to launch into the configuration?
Running smart start 5.4 on this machine.
Thanks for any help you may give.

Re: Proliant 5000 HDD setup
you will need to run array config to configure the drives
the drives should not need ID's changed - just slot them in and run Array Configuration Utility.
