Proliant 5000 Power Supply

Recently the Power Supply in my Proliant 5000 server died on me. The machine was running linux and setup with a 4 disk raid array. There is some data on the server that I would like to collect before I retire the machine. Is it possible to modify a normal PC power supply to temporarily use to boot the proliant.

What I guess I'm looking for in some info on the voltages of the stock mainboard connector. There are 4 colors on the power connector red, purple, orange and black. The black is obviously ground. Can anyone help with the remaining values for the other wires?

Re: Proliant 5000 Power Supply

Hi Mark,
Simplest way is to pull the scsi card and disk array and fire them up on a suitable PC, the card will happily fun on a standard pci slot.

You could get the PSU refurbished for a small expense (much cheaper than a new one).

Though Colin's idea sounds interesting
why?
