Re: Proliant 5000 Smart Array 2/P
There is a bootable version of the ACU with should pick up that controller.
It can be found here

Re: Proliant 5000 Smart Array 2/P
(1) Your link was to the japanese language versions of the software. However, I was able to dig around and find the equivalent english versions.
(2)The ACU download that is there specifically states that it is not bootable. It is an upgrade to a version for Windows NT or Windows 3.1 and can only be run under the OS. I can't imagine that Compaq/HP does not supply one that permits initializing the array for new install but I could not find it there.
(3) The other downloads are for SCU and DAAD, both of which I previously downloaded and found that they do not help to initialize the array.
To: Prashant Sharma - Here is more detail...
(1) I am trying to initialize the Smart Array controller and 4 SCSI disks which were not part of this server. They have all been cleared, though I do not know how that was done so I do not know if there is some file system assumed to be on them. I want to be able to install SCO OpenServer 5.0.6 on the array.
(2) I have a copy of the SCU and have run it and everything checks out except the array. That is where I am stuck.
(3)I do not have the Smart Start CD. That seems to be my sticking point. I do not know where to find a copy of the CD or a downloadable version of Smart Start.
(4) I went to the geocities.com link you provided. It does have reference to manually doing the steps included on the Smart Start CD. However, the step that includes a download of the ACU software seems to include versions only for Linux and several Windows variants. I did not see one for SCO perhaps one of the others will work. I will download some of them and try to see what happens.
Thanks again.

Re: Proliant 5000 Smart Array 2/P
This link is for the bios update on the SA 2/P: http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/14694.html
You will need to create Disk #1 to do the update.
Here is a link to the ProLiant 5000 Bios Update: http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/7548.html
Here is the ACU Diskette set for your Smart Array 2/P (use this to create your array): http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/proworkstation/us/download/8605.html
You will need the EFS which is a collection of driver sets you need during the build of SCO: http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/14542.html
Here is a link to the rest of the SCO goodies you will need for the ProLiant 5000:
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/26_1109.html
I hope this helps. It is a lot of stuff to look at, and the easier way to accomplish the build is to get yourself a SmartStart 5.5 CD. You can order them from here: http://h18013.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/smartstart/index.html
