Proliant 5500 hangs
Hi,
I have a proliant 5500 with 4GB RAM and 4 Xeon processors installed. I managed to get windows server 2000 installed on it but now everytime i turn it on it hangs while tryng to turn the video on during system power on. I cant even get the video on to wipe the system. Any ideas??

Re: Proliant 5500 hangs
The Proliant 5500 has the video controller onboard, the video controller is located in the Peripheral Board, if there is an failed video controller you have to replace the Peripheral Board.
Step by Step remove any adicional cards to see if there is any conflit.
Check for an DIMM problem or Memory Board problem.
In last consider replace the Peripheral Board.

Re: Proliant 5500 hangs
Remove all your options from it so that you got a basic 5500.
Then when you start it do you get the red Compaq logo ?
If not, then it's likely that something is broke. That would be very unlucky and would mean a new board.
If you do, then start the correct version of Smartstart for your server and try the system-erase option if you still want to erase and start again.
