Re: Proliant 5500
Thanx for all of your help. The server is now functioning normally, however, I have to get my hands on the SmartStart cd so that I can configure and install my OS on the box, which will be a W2K/vmware box..
Got an easy link so I can go to and download, I believe the version I'm looking for is 5.50?
Roger-
Wanted to send you a thanx also, as your links to the docs were very helpful..

Re: Proliant 5500
SmartStart is not free. Version 7 was just released and it can be ordered here:
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/subscription/smartstart_subscription.html
I think it's worth the fee ($49 for 4 CDs or $25 for 2).

Re: Proliant 5500
I am glad everything is functioning normally. As for as Smart Start CD is concerned you cannot download 5.50. On the contrary if you dont intend to have RAID on your server then just use the system configuration from one of the links I provided you with. Once Hardware is configured then you can go ahead and install OS. Please let me know if I could of any further assistance.
Regards,
