Proliant 6500 - Array rebuild

Hi,
When putting a new disk into a RAID 5 array the automatic rebuild of the array starts but stops at 1% completed. Is there a way of manually starting this process or do you need to do something prior to shutting it down. The OS is NT 4.0 if this makes any difference.
