Proliant 7000 LCD Panel Errors !!!!

Hi:

Iam new to this Forum. I have 3 Proliant 7000 which is out of warranty and recieving these errors:

LCD Panel shows the message:

ASR
Reset Detected

OR

ASR
Reset Limit

Servers have been recently redone with SmartStart 5.4, Windows 2000 Advanced Server with Raid 5.
Bios and Array Controller have also been updated to latest version.

I cannot seem to find Specific Errors on this, any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Proliant 7000 LCD Panel Errors !!!!

ASR means Automatic Server Recovery.

There's ASR hardware on the system board. The ASR OS agent triggers this hardware which starts to count down. After some time the ASR agent resets the counter before it reaches zero. If the OS crashes then the ASR agent is no longer running, the counter reaches zero and the ASR hardware restarts the server.

So usually ASR resets happen after OS hangs or blue screens. But there can also be faulty ASR hardware (I've seen that once happen with a HP NetServer LH).

Check the integrated management log (via integrated management log viewer application or Insight Manager); there should be more info.

You can disable ASR in system setup.
