Re: Proliant 800 Dual Processor Problem

Hi,

According to the numbers you provided it looks like one CPU is a 400Mhz with 512K cache(400512) and the other is a 350Mhz with 512K cache(350512). This combination won't work but if you get a pair of 400Mhz cpu's they should work if you update the BIOS to support mixed stepping levels. Here is a link the BIOS for the PL800 model with 100Mhz FSB (P14 BIOS).

I hope this helps,

Re: Proliant 800 Dual Processor Problem

Hi,

In case of dual processor the processor information has to be same to work with server.Where as the number written by me are compaq part nos for cpu. if you are not able to work with the processor in that case you can buy one with the same configuration you have.

Re: Proliant 800 Dual Processor Problem

Once again. before purchasing anything.

Before buying since you have diff processor and the information for processors you are providing i am not able to get through.

But point is in case of proliant Same processor information are requested it can be of any of the following speed
6/600 Pentium III Processor
6/550 Pentium III Processor
6/500 Pentium III Processor
6/450 Pentium II Processor
6/400 Pentium II Processor
6/350 Pentium II Processor

Since you have diff processor try to remove the orginal processor and try to install other processor with matching configuraion.
