Proliant 800-(P14) Too much memory???
I purchased and installed 4 256mb pieces of Compaq registered RAM. It installed fine and booted after POST. I am experiencing frequent lockups now. I havent been able to find a utility from MS that stresses the memory. I used it before and it worked fine to locate bad pieces. I also noticed the manual states only up to 128mb pieces which equates to 512mb max. I thought I saw a revision for 1gb of RAM for this hardware. Can someone direct me to the answer? Possible a BIOS ROMPAQ that may resolve. Thanks, Pete

Re: Proliant 800-(P14) Too much memory???
Peter,
we use Proliant 800 with 2*500 CPU and 1 Gb RAM without any problems (11/08/2000, Family 386P14 BIOS)
Make sure you have last server BIOS. Make sure you have last Proliant support pack installed

Anything interesting in Event viewer and in HP Integrated management viewer?
You probably can use http://www.memtest86.com/
or
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp
as well

Re: Proliant 800-(P14) Too much memory???
Thanks Igor, my bios date is the same. nothing special in log just yet. I did run the partition utilities to test mem but got impatient and rebooted after 45 minutes and only 2/3 done. I will try links for mem test. Pete
