Proliant 800 Server overheating with second processor

We recently added a second processor to our Proliant 800 server. Almost immediately it began overheating and shuts down within a fre minutes. After doing some resarch on the Web, I found a Thermal Upgrade Option kit 144003-B22 that's recommended if the CPU is being upgraded. Does this apply also when adding a second processor? Anybody know if this kit will solve the problem?

Hi Jeffrey,

Yes this thermal pad need to be installed on the second processor and this part number is for this model. Now this thermal kit is for the Compaq processors. Will it work on your processor you have? Is it a Compaq processor?

We received the Thermal Upgrade Kit, but the thing didn't come with any instructions. Are the instructions available online?
