Proliant 800 loses configuration

My proliant 800 keeps losing its configuration settings after powering off. This started a few months ago so I figured the CMOS battery was gone. I installed an external battery and connected to the correct pins. Yet this did not solve the problem. The new external battery is a Tadiran TL-5242/W 3.6 volt lithium. The original battery is a Rayovac lithium coin-cell. I can't see the model number. The original coin cell battery is soldered to the motherboard so removong it would entail a fair amount of work and hopefully being able to find a coin cell holder that cvould be soldered in place of the battery allowing easy future battery swaps. Has anyone else expereinced this?
