The disk with the OS on is attached to teh Adaptec controller.

The only thing I can suggest right now is to see if there is a rom flash for the Adaptec card.
Obviously the SCSIPORT.SYS driver doesn't like that card or vice versa.
I wish I had a fix for you. Sorry.

Not to worry Mark, we managed to get hold of our Smartstart disk and when we used that to assist our upgrade everything worked out fine. Strange but true! Thanks a lot for your assistance on this one though, it was much appreciated.
