Proliant 8500 - Split Processors

Proliant 8500 with Quad Xeon 700 MHz with Dual Cache Accelerators. All processors are on first bus. When splitting the processors across both buses, server is restarted but LED Interlocks are lit and server will not power on. Only when all processors are moved back to single bus will server restart!

Any ideas as to why cannot split processors across both buses?

Good Day jason,
Please make sure you run the System Configuration after the move the Hardware around in the server.

The problem is the machine will not boot at all to allow this to happen. LED Interlocks are lit and will not power on!

Re: Proliant 8500 - Split Processors

Hi

When you move the processors, do you plug the terminator board in the empty sockets ? Becasue the system will not power up when a processor slot is empty .
I also know that PL8500 is a little " sensitive " regarding processors connections

Yep, Terminator boards are moved for each processor.
