Yesterday I bought a Proliant DL120 G5 server. I wanted to upgrade the firmware on the machine as HP stated to be *critical* in the download section. I have used the most recent smart disc to update all my firmware - it went smoothly. But! When I rebooted the server, the fans won't stop spinning at their highest speed. How do I make them return to normal speed like they did before?
Cheers, Jamnik

SolutionHi,
Not sure what is the version of CD you used to update the firmware, also not sure if that CD had latest versions of BIOS & LO100 management firmware versions to latest versions.
Refer the following support documents:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c01705920
&
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c01790082
To resolve this issue update the BIOS & LO100 management firmware versions to latest versions individually.

Re: Proliant DL120 G5 firmware/fan problem
Hey M.
Thanks for the reply!
I have upgraded my BIOS to this version : http://bit.ly/12bZWkY
+ I have found this LO100 firmware upgrade : http://bit.ly/15ZtZvj
The problem now, is that the LO upgrade only is avalible as USB ROMPaq, and I can't seem to get my server to boot from usb...? || solved it by enabling SATA & RAID, then the server let me boot from usb :) The fans are quiet now :) ||
Cheers, Jannik

This information may have been accurate years ago but HP has changed their model now. They will extort money from you unless you have an active warranty.

Re: Proliant DL120 G5 firmware/fan problem
I have HP ProLiant DL120 G5 Server. Rebuilt it with win 2008R2 Server. When I upgraded the firmware, fans starting making loud noise spinning as fast as they can. These old links that Murli provided are no longer active. Please help. TYhanks
