Proliant DL140 G2 SATA Controller

I have a dl140 g2 with 2 160gb sata drives. It appears that I have the 82801eb sata controller. Is this controller capable of raid?

I can't find any documentaion on how to setup a drive array on this controller, maybe I'm just looking in the wrong areas. I have the support cd, and there's no real documentation there pertaining to the controller.

I'm trying to setup Windows 2000 Server on it.

Thaks,

Brian

Re: Proliant DL140 G2 SATA Controller

Hello Brian,

The controller is capable of raid, however software raid only which means the OS would manage the raid.

Not too sure if you checked 100 series server user guide,it has documentation.

Re: Proliant DL140 G2 SATA Controller

Hi Brian,

The Proliant DL140G2 onboard Sata controller does not support Raid. It is a normal SATA port no raid supported. Check the quick specs:

To install OS connect the SATA hdds and proceed with installation. You could setup a Software Raid 1(mirror) within Windows 2000.

Raj.

Thanks for the info. I thought as much but I hate to assume anything.

Ok, off to create volumes within windows 2k.

Thanks again,

Brian
