Proliant DL140 G3 Windows 2003 Server X64 Installation Woes

Hi,

We have purchased an el cheapo Hp Proliant DL140 G3 (The one's Hp can't be bothered writing SmartStart for!!), and we have encountered an issue with running Windows Server 2003 X64.

The server has the 4/8 port LSI SAS/SATA RAID Controller. We are performing the Windows installation via CD, and supplying the drivers for the array controller on a USB pen drive.

Following the reboot after the Windows installation, the following message is displayed:

"Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.

Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware"

This could probably be rectified by messing around with the boot.ini, however I must be missing a trick on how to install Windows on this server, as surely Hp can't expect you to do this on every server you build.

The primary disk partition has been set to 20Gb by the way, and the server has 2 x 500Gb SATA drives in a RAID-1 configuration.

Any ideas on how to install Windows properly on this server without resorting to editing ini files would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul.

Paul:

Did you try integrating the drivers into your install media?

There is a nifty utility that does the process automatically for you. You just supply the media and the drivers and it creates a new iso image for you that is bootable.
