Proliant DL140 PCI RAID Card Wanted

Tried to get a Rocket RAID 133 card for ATA drives to work but to no avail. Both Rocket BIOS & HP BIOS pick it up and say it is there. OS says no boot device! Are there any RAID cards out there that support the DL140 so that I can mirror the 2 80 Gb drives I've installed? Small Biz Server 2003 presently installed.

Any help/suggestions most appreciated.

Re: Proliant DL140 PCI RAID Card Wanted

hi,

from your post , what I understand is you have already installed O/S in one of your HDDs and now connecting them to a newely installed ATA 133 RAID card. if I'm not wrong, you have to reinstall the O/s after configuring mirroring on your IDE card. ( also, don't forget to disable onboard IDE ( if ther is any option for that in your server) of your server).

OK. "Both Rocket BIOS & HP BIOS pick it up and say it is there" Say what is there, the card or the drive? Ar ethere 2 drives or one? We have to guess like the response above. Assume you have attached a single drive to the card, the existong 80GB with SBS on it. You should not install the second blank until you get the first up and booting.

Get into the BIOS of the Highpoint card. It say at their site that the BIOS 'can be' configured to boot, so you must have to set something.
Question:
Can I boot the system from a drive attached to the RocketRAID 133 card?

Answer:
Yes. The RR133 card's has it's own independent BIOS, which allows operating systems to be installed to, and booted from, drives or arrays attached to it's IDE channels. The card supports most Windows operating systems (Win2k, XP, NT, Win98/ME), several versions of Linux (Red Hat, SuSE, Caldera, Turbo), and FreeBSD.

Hi:

Section 3.5 of the User manual shows how to make an attached drive bootable. See:

and click on RocketRaid 133.
