Proliant DL180 G6, Windows 32bit and 6GB of RAM

Hi,

I have a customer who has just purchased a DL180 G6 which comes with 6GB RAM as standard. The customer wants to install Windows Server 2003 R2 x86 Standard on the server. The EasySetup CD says you cannot perform that installation and will not proceed.

If the client performs the installation using the Windows CD not the EasySetup will the installation be possible and successful?

If Windows sucessfully installs are there any possible issues the system may encounter by running with the OS only addressing 4GB of the 6Gb of memory?

Is running Windows Server 2003 R2 x86 on this system with 6GB of memory a 'supported' configuration from HP Support?

Thanks,
Marc

Hi,

I know it's late, but thought it may help others.

Windows 2003 R2 Standard only supports 4GB RAM.

You will need Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise in order to support your 6GB.

The DL180 EasySetup CD will not let you continue with the install unless you select Windows Enterprise.

Thanks
