Proliant DL360 G3 - Windows 2000 sees 4 CPU's

I have installed four HP Proliant DL360 G3 servers with dual Pentium III Xeon 2,8Ghz with Windows 2000 SP3. Installed Smart Start 6.2 software. Windows somehow shows four processors instead of two? Also all of these processors actually show activity in for instance the performance monitor? Anyone has any idea?

Update on the question, I have found out that the Intel Xeon 2,8 Ghz processors support hyperthreading. Therefore a single processor shows up as multiple processors. Disabling Hyperthreading would result in 2 CPU's shown in Windows 2000. Does anyone know if Windows 2000 fully supports hyperthreading?

I guess it depends on what you mean by "fully supported". Windows 2003 (.Net) would be the best option using hyper-threading, since Windows 2000 is not able to tell the difference between physical and logical processors. On a server with four Xeons installed (eg. DL580 G2) it will require using Advanced Server in order to use all eight processors seen within the OS. See Microsoft whitepaper:

I would recommend disabling Hyperthreading when using Windows 2000. Windows 2000 does NOT support it - so it may work, or it may not. Intel say that at the moment ONLY Windows XP supports Hyperthreading correctly:
