Proliant DL360 G3 and USB 2.0

Hi all!
The server mentioned above is run with Windows 2003 Enterprise server.
I want to connect a USB 2.0 External Hard disk (LaCie)on the USB port of this server.
At present the port is a type 1.1 because the HP legacy USB support is active .
On the ProLiant USB support page I have read the following:

"HP provides both standard USB support and legacy USB support. Standard support is provided by the operating system (OS) through the appropriate USB device drivers. HP provides support for USB devices prior to the operating system loading through legacy USB support, which is enabled by default in the system ROM. HP hardware supports USB 2.0, but devices will run at 1.1 speeds in legacy mode."

I have read some messages on this forum that say that the Proliant doesn't support USB 2.0, but i have found the extract above by starting from the technical specifications of the Proliant DL360 G3. So it seems that there is a contradiction.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks in advance
Riccardo Sucapane

Re: Proliant DL360 G3 and USB 2.0

DL360 G3 doesn't support USB 2.0.
Only G4 servers (and G3 blade) support USB 2
DL360 G3 quickspecs does not mention USB compliance (don't know why),
but in DL380 G3 (DL360 brother's) QuickSpecs you see "USB 1.1" :

You can buy and install USB2.0 capable PCI card (note that you need PCI card with 3.3 volt keyed connector)

See at

On the Interfaces section there is a link to

http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/platforms/usb-support.html.

It seems to say that USB 2.0 is supported on Proliant DL360 G3
