Proliant DL360 G3 disks 68 or 80 pin?

Hi all,

I spent hours by searching with google what disks are suitable for Proliant DL360 G3.

I found product numbers but nowhere can find what version of SCSI ultra320 disks can be installed 68 or 80 pins or both?

Thanks in advance,
Peter

hi,

its doesn't matter how many pins are on the disk interface, for you is only the Product number or Spare part number important.

PartSurfer from HP will help you find the correct disk.

Re: Proliant DL360 G3 disks 68 or 80 pin?

Hi Michal,

thanks for your reply. I know that I can order disks by part/product number that is not an issue.

I need to know how what version disks are supported because I'd like to order disk out of HP or HP partners.

I found that there are 2 versions of these disks (68 or 80 pins) and I want to avoid ordering not suitable one. HP is selling non HP disks (Seagate or other vendors) but with HP label. So ordering it out of HP will be cheaper.

Hi

These are the spares available:

404709-001 72gb 10k
404713-001 72gb 15k
404708-001 146gb 10k

Try searching one of the spares available for your model in this document:

HP/Compaq Hard Disk Drives - Hard Drive Model Number Matrix

Searched briefly and they were all 80 pin models except for one on the 72gb which was 68pin. Safest bet would probably be the 146gb. Bare in mind that not using HP hardware is not supported :)

well, server is out of support anyway. ;)

Not supported doesn't necassary mean it will not work. HP only not guarantee it will work with those disks provided under HP product numbers. ;)

But of course HP labeled disks might have different firmware, so it really might work with "HP" disks only and only way how to figure it out is to test it. :)

hpepzili, the disks will be 80pin SCA connectors, i.e. power and data all in one. 68pin requires an additional 4pin +12 power cable, like what you use for old pata disks etc. 80pin SCA is the hotswap type that you will need.

Hope that helps.
