Proliant DL360 G5 - SmartStart 8.25 x63 - Please insert the DVD media and press continue

Hi. I have tried installing win2008 server x64 onto a Proliant DL360 G5 using the SmartStart 8.25. I get through all the config steps of the smartstart deployment and it gets to the screen for Please insert the DVD media and press continue. I insert my MS volume licensing DVD for windows 2008 server x64 and then hit continue. I get the little arrow with hour glass for a couple of seconds but then nothing happens. I have tried restarting the whole process again and the same results. I can't do anything but his Exit (reboot) or SmartStart Home which will just start the process over again. Any thoughts?

Hi!

Does it fill in /mount/dvd for you? If not try to type it in manually.

If that doesn't do it, are there anything already installed on the server? Anything been installed on it before? If you are okay with it you could try to erase system from inside smartstart before continuing with the installation.

Shawn,
1st time you use that SS media or MS VL media?
check Them for scratches or whatever else.
Check your DVD drive for incompatibilities, hardware faults, read speeds.
If you Burn one or both of the media, try burning slower.

1st time you install that server (or did a system erase before) but media are OK?
try SS 8.20

something was already installed on this SRVR before?
System erase, then restart to the first point if it doesn't work.

It did have an OS on before but it was wiped via SmartStart. I do not get to a point where I can specify mounting the drive. It is the first time I am using the MS media but it does appear to be scratch free. I have downloaded 8.2 and may try that next.

Shawn try to test MS media in another PC.

There is a matter bout 2008 medias: they are in a non standard format.
As a matter of fact you cannot open the ISO with winrar or winiso: you will see only a simple text file telling this DVD is in ... format (don't remember exactly) and thus you cannot read it from here: burn it with a software that support ... format and ...blablabla

Linux has problems with that kind of medias.

Well, i don't know about MS VL DVD of Win 2008, but you can also give a try to the folder option in the source, copying all the files of the OS version you want on a USB stick or whatever else or burning them on a Normal DVD....

I actually tried booting to the media on the server and the win 2008 setup started just fine.
