Proliant DL360G5 standby mode issues
We currently employ 140 Proliant DL360G5 servers at various remote sites, all running SLES9. We have had a number of these servers experience problems going into standby mode for no apparent reason. HP support has had us run diagnostics, but this provided no answers. What confounds us most with this issue is the "solution" that we have used so far. We replace the problem server with a spare server and that site does not have the problem again. The "problem" server is returned to our central office and does not display the problem behavior. We can then use this "problem" server as a replacement in the field with no ill effects and without having made any changes to the server. We have updated firmware with no improvement of symptoms. On one server we drained NVRAM and that temporarily seemed to resolve the issue for about 8 - 10 days. The servers will sometimes go into standby during working hours, sometimes after, so load does not appear to be the issue. We are using HP R1500 UPSes and are using management modules on the UPSes. The UPSes do not report any power issues. Has anyone had similar issues and, if so, found a solution?

Re: Proliant DL360G5 standby mode issues
Basic: Update the Software and Drivers with the PSP 8.60
Update BIOS and iLO
Now, any logs or information? IML, System Management Home Page or something?

Re: Proliant DL360G5 standby mode issues
This is the first thing HP support had us do. After updating BIOS and iLO, they had us run diagnostics. This created 4 log files (Diagnosis Log, Test Log, Error Log and Integrated Management Log). Except for the Test Log, all logs were empty; the Test Log showed everything tested OK after 8 loops.
