Proliant, DL380, G1 - fan not quieting down

Proliant DL380, G1, last BIOS/firmware.

Running Linux, Debian/Sarge, with HP health monitor drivers.

Servers has FULL speed fans when turned on. As soon as the health monitor (hpasm/hpasmd) gets loaded - the CPU fan slows down (good).

Problems is with the fan standing in front of the power supply cage. It keeps on running full speed (i.e. turbo jey engine model!) - even tough the health manager is up ad running.

Why does the power supply fan remain full speed? How can I slow it down?

Attached, find a picture show the output of "hpasmcli SHOW fan".

TIA

I am experiencing this same problem.

Does anyone have any tips?

Mr. Bosco -- did you ever find a solution?

Thank you in advance.

Re: Proliant, DL380, G1 - fan not quieting down

I run several DL 380 G1 with Debian etch or Suse 10 and hpasm-7.8.0-100.etch26.i386.deb

I strongly need all main chaissis fans running full power, not slowing down. What canI do. Where is the config file to supress switching the fan to low speed.

Reason: on high temperatures it no more speeds up !!! Thats a bug not a feature !!

As soon as system boots up, loading hpasm, fan slows down.

Need help.

Re: Proliant, DL380, G1 - fan not quieting down

Debian is not supported on DL380 G1, so there's no warranty that the system drivers work correctly.

What part of "not supported" is so difficult for people to grasp? "not" or "supported"?
