Proliant DL380 G3 which RHEL Software Suppport Pack to use to update firmware for the 2.6 kernel?
I'm planning an install for Check Points R75.20. I think it uses the 2.6.32.2 kernel, this should be a pretty close guess. And I want to update the firmware using the SSP. I'm not sure of which one I need to download. Would someone help me out with the link?
I have the latest SSP but it throws the err msg "this kernel requires an x86-64 cpu, but only detected an i646 cpu. unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your cpu" when I try to boot from it. I have a similar post regarding Smart Start and a forum member pointed me to Smart Start v8.25 as the latest for the G3's. I probably need something similar for the SSP.
Thanks

Re: Proliant DL380 G3 which RHEL Software Suppport Pack to use to update firmware for the 2.6 kernel
Hi,
DL380 G3 supports only 32bit operating system. From the error message I am guessing that you might have installed x64bit OS/kernel on this server.
You can take a look at this link "Red Hat Enterprise Linux Certification and Support HP ProLiant & BladeSystem Server"
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/linux/hplinuxcert.html
Here are the ProLiant Support Packs:

Good Luck!

Re: Proliant DL380 G3 which RHEL Software Suppport Pack to use to update firmware for the 2.6 kernel
Thanks for the tip that the G3 is only 32 bit. I've not installed anything yet. I want to update the firmware before I install an o/s. I'll download the support packs and see which one works.

Hi,
If nothing is installed and you are looking for updating Firmware then here is the link.
ProLiant Support Pack is installed after you install the operating system.
