Proliant DL380 G4 Memory Issues

Hello,

I am having a problem with running the server with a 12GB configuration, using the recommended (2GBx2) pair configuration, the memory all tests ok, but as soon as I populate DIMM5 and 6, the system gives a long beep, and I get no video, the Motherboard lights up orange along the memory slots. I have upgraded the firmware and BIOS to the latest revisions, and I am not using the Online Spare configuration, only Advanced ECC for memory in ROM.

Has anyone else come across this?

I have been reading through documentation and found that there was an issue with memory limits at 8192MB, but thought the ROM upgrade would fix this.

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Yes, all 2GB memory sticks are the same P/N.

Hi!

I had a similar experiance because the company we bought the hardware from didn't check thoroughly and sold us the wrong memory type. "Single Rank" in all 3 banks is the solution.
