Proliant DL380 G4 memory upgrade issues
We currently have 6 GB in the server, and purchased through Crucial (and their upgrade advisor) 3 4GB kits (2x2GB). The only thing different is that it is DDR2-5300. Shouldn't this be backwards compatible speed-wise?
Please advise.
Please advise.

even in high performance Dl380 g4s server the only supported memory is: PC2 PC3200 DDR2 SDRAM
so what is the option part number you have?
where did you get that information about to get those DIMMS?

Re: Proliant DL380 G4 memory upgrade issues
There was an online configuration assistant on Crucial's website where I could feed it the system information that I had (specifically the model of the server). I spoke with them just a short time ago and they advised me that the memory won't work, and I didn't even have to ask for a refund and RMA.

Re: Proliant DL380 G4 memory upgrade issues
Paul,
If it's any help you should compare the Crucial parts against the HP memory option numbers. Crucial and others should have a reference to these HP numbers.
Please see attached image.
Regards,
Brian
