Re: Proliant DL380 G5 and SC08Ge G6 compatibility

Proliant DL380 G5 and SC08Ge G6 compatibility

I know that DL380 G5 PCIe slots are gen 1.x while HBA SC08e 6G (for use with MSA P2000 G3) is PCIe gen 2.0.

The HBA is compatible with the server?

Thanks

Hi,

according to the DL380 G5 Quickspecs (http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12477_div/12477_div.PDF ) the HBA SC08Ge is compatible with it.

Cheers,

Nikola

Re: Proliant DL380 G5 and SC08Ge G6 compatibility

I made a mistake in the subject, is not SC08Ge but SC08e

- SC08Ge: HBA SAS 3Gb for MSA2000 G2 (compatible with DL380 G5)
- SC08e: HBA SAS 6Gb for MSA P2000 G3

I need to know if the SC08e work with a Proliant DL380 G5. In the quickspecs of HBA (http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13651_div/13651_div.html) the server is not listed.

Re: Proliant DL380 G5 and SC08Ge G6 compatibility

Hi,

the SC08Ge isn't listed in the ProLiant DL380 G5 Quickspecs, so I wouldn't recommend using it.

Re: Proliant DL380 G5 and SC08Ge G6 compatibility

The SC08Ge is listed in DL380 G5 quickspecs but isn't listed the SC08e model because it's newer that the server. The PCIe standard specific that PCIe 2.0 cards should be fully compatibles with PCIe 1.x slots.
