Dear All
I am using Have anyone suddenly experience an IO error on /dev/sdb or /dev/sdxx in Ubuntu. I cannot start some of the applications because of this error and the drive cannot be accessible.
From dmesg description, show error like below:

SolutionThe sense code refers to a "Hardware Error - self-test failed" from your Smart Array driver.
-Or the controller has problems: battery or raid memory
-Or there is a problem with the hard drives.
You will need to run array diagnostics on your server to see what is happening.

Thank you, but exactly how I should run the array diagnostic, I have been contacting HP support but got no answer at all,

Download the SmartStart CD, it has the offline version of the Array Diagnostics Utility

Thank you for the links, it helps a lot, I have been struggling contacting HP support line for these past 2 days and it seems they are on holidays in Indonesia.
