Proliant DL380 G7 Smart Array 410i Windows Installation
We had a serious problem with installing Windows (multiple versions of 2008 tried, R1, R2, Enterprise, Standard various different disks) using the SmartStart 8.4 and 8.5 CDs and without the SmartStart cds. All sorts of RAID configurations tried.
No matter what we did, it would not see the drives to install Windows. We even tried on two different servers with the same results. It was clearly not a hardware issue. Everything tested fine and it was occuring on two different servers.
I literally spent 6 hours on the phone with HP support.
Ultimately, the only way I could get Windows to install was to disable all the pci slots in the bios.
I am posting this here because I found nothing else useful on the web, and if it happens to someone else, I would like to save them the hours of troubleshooting we did.
Hope this doesn't happen to someone else... but if it does, I hope this is helpful.

It has happened to me. HP service does not have a clue. 8 hours and 3 techs. Thank you for the post.
