I know nothing about Proliant servers, but...
1) This is a "General Feedback and Suggestions" forum, not a Proliant
server forum. (But a moderator seems to have solved that problem.)
2) Don't these models come in some large number of "generations",
like "G7" or G9"? And might they not all use the same kind of memory?

I doubt it, but it may depend on exactly which "Proliant servers"
you're talking about.

How did you look? My quick Web search found places like (380G9):
https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c05240460
Do not mix RDIMMs or LRDIMMs.
Doesn't sound to me like FB<anything>. Or, (380G7):
https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c02215414
Do not mix Unbuffered memory (UDIMMs) with Registered memory (RDIMMs)
Doesn't sound to me like FB<anything>. Or, (380G7):
I'd gather some actual model identifiers, and, if a simple Web search
doesn't help, then try to find some appropriate (Proliant server) forum.
(Should be easy now.)
You might also try some of the major memory vendors, like, for
example, crucial.com, but I'd bet that you'll still need to know more
than "DL380".

Re: Proliant DL385,DL380 memory
Hi.
I recommend that you use this link to get a good idea of how much and how many memories you can add
Note that the wizard will ask you about the current status of the server memories and their PN`s
https://h22195.www2.hpe.com/ddr4memoryconfig/home/legal
Regards and good luck.
