Proliant DL385 + Hp Smart Array p410 and Vmware ESXi 4.1
I have a problem with Proliant DL385 + Hp Smart Array p410 and Vmware ESXi 4.1: sometimes (maybe once a year) ESXi loses storage. I can login and issue commands, but any IO operation with that storage fails after 15 minute timeout. It looks like there are no disks inside server while it happens. Any ideas how to solve problem? Is it hardware or software problem?

Re: Proliant DL385 + Hp Smart Array p410 and Vmware ESXi 4.1
Hello,
What is exact generation of DL385? (as pre Smartarray - G6/G7)?
Do you have all latest firmware/driver/ESX updates?

Re: Proliant DL385 + Hp Smart Array p410 and Vmware ESXi 4.1
The firware definitely could be a problem, I would try updating.
Also, random/odd failures on RAID controllers can be cache battery issues. How old is the cache battery? If older than about 3-4 years I would replace.

Re: Proliant DL385 + Hp Smart Array p410 and Vmware ESXi 4.1
Thanks, I'm planning to update:
1. firmware
2. Esxi + driver
server is about 3.5 years old, less than 4 years.
