Proliant DL580 G7 New RAM issue
Hello all. I'm trying to upgrade the RAM in my Proliant DL580 G7 server. I'm replace the 4gb 10600 1.5v sticks with 16gb 10600 1.35v sticks (HP 632204-001).
When I replace them, i get a long beep and no POST. I've included a screenshot of the front health panel.
I've tried just 1/2 the sticks, and then swapped with the other 1/2. So i don't think it's a bad DIMM.
I've also tried updating the BIOS, but still see the same issue. Does anyone have any suggestions for next steps?
Thanks.

Re: Proliant DL580 G7 New RAM issue
Hi,
How many sticks are you installing and in what order?
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c02283239
Old, 501534-001 = 4GB, 1333MHz, PC3-10600R-9, DDR3, dual-rank x4, 1.50V, registered dual in-line memory module (RDIMM)
New, 632204-001 = 16GB, 1333MHz, PC3L-10600R-9, DDR3, dual-rank x4, 1.35V, registered dual in-line memory module (RDIMM)
•Minimum allowable configuration is two DIMMs per cartridge.
•DIMMs must be installed in pairs with identical characteristics. For configuration simplicity HP recommends using identical part numbered DIMMs throughout when possible.
•DIMM pairs MUST be populated in sequence by letter designation. Install DIMM pair 1A, 8A first followed by DIMM pair 3B, 6B then DIMM pair 2C, 7C and DIMM pair 4D, 5D last.
• Maximum performance is achieved by balancing DIMM pairs by letter groupings across all memory cartridges. Such that the 1A, 8A pair is install in all memory cartridges first (see diagram below) followed by the B pair, C pair and D pair.
Thank You!
