Proliant DL580 installation problems

Hi,

I am pretty new in this field, so the following questions might be easy to solve...

I purchased recently a DL580, dual Xeon 700 MHz, 1024 Mb ECC Ram
5800 SCSI card
4 disks 18GB

I tried to load the server install CD, this works fine.

To install an operating system is really hard.

Redhat 8 : fails after unpacking core
Suse10 : Kernel panic, can't load root fs
WinXp(+sp1) : fails loading kernel
ubuntu6 : CRC error during unpack
NT : I can reach the lines for selecting the disc controller, however after loading the driver, it claims there are no drives.
win 98 : I tried to fdisk and format the drive, this is successfull.
I cannot boot from it.

Can someone tell me
a) Which OS i should use
b) which settings i need for the serverinstalldisk.

Many thanks,

Daniel
