Proliant Gen9 & UEFI - Red Hat Installation
I faced difficulties when trying to install RHEL6.5 on DL380g9 with UEFI.
The difficulties are
a) The server cannot boot from a CD burned (bootable) with the ISO image. Error messages in red and black background.
b) Intelligent Provision did not recognize the RHEL ISO file.
c) Used a few USB burner utilities, the server still does not want to boot the the USB.
In the end, we found a utility called Rufus. Here what we did,
a) Burned with MBR for UEFI. The image did not boot.
b) Burned with GPT for UEFI. The image booted but it forced us to use GPT disk partition.
Any comments or anyone can share their experience with RHEL/CentOS installation in Gen9 servers?
Thanks.

Re: Proliant Gen9 & UEFI - Red Hat Installation
There shouldn't be any issue unless you have UEFI in secure boot mode.
a) The server cannot boot from a CD burned (bootable) with the ISO image. Error messages in red and black background.
Are you sure the ISO image you have is not corrupted? please compare checksums to be sure you have a valid image
b) Intelligent Provision did not recognize the RHEL ISO file.
IP checks the image to verify and read a few specific files that verify the version you have selected. If it cant' read the files it fails.
Even though there are Red Hat documents that show how to create a bootable USB key for installaion, they don't work for version 6.x.
Do you have an advanced or trial license key for iLO? if so you can try mounting the ISO image using iLO virtual media to boot and install from the ISO image.
