Proliant ML 110 G4 / Newbie Windows question
Good morning!
I'm new to this forum, so please excuse some questions that might seem silly. I'm also a administrating a Mac network, so it will be my first Windows installation :)
We received wat seem to be a good offer for the HP Proliant ML 110 machine (1.83 Ghz XEON processor, 3 160Gb HD), for about 500$.
My question is: Can we install Windows XP on these machines? We would get one server with 2003 and 3 client machines for testing a couple of database applications we are developping.
Windows XP isn't mentionned on the PDF documentation, but I have been told it *should* work ;)
Thanks for sharing any information/experience you have on this!
Have a great day :-)

Re: Proliant ML 110 G4 / Newbie Windows question
Hello Johann.
The price look great, the bad thing is that XP is not a Supported OS for any of the Proliant Servers.
The main issue that you will have is that there are not drivers for that OS, sometimes the drivers for Win 2K3 works, but not always.
Regards,
Javier.

Re: Proliant ML 110 G4 / Newbie Windows question
Why not install 2003 and then use MS Virtual Server for the XP workstations.
That way you have your whole test environment on one box.
You could do the same with a high powered workstation running XP and virtual PC.
here's a link to virtual server
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserversystem/virtualserver/default.mspx
and virtual pc
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/virtualpc/default.mspx
best of luck
