Proliant ML 370 w/Smart Array 641
I have a Proliant ML 370 G3 server with a 641 raid card. I have 3 disks currently in this array (RAID 5) and it's partitioned into two logical drives. I still have 3 open slots for hard drives and am looking to add more storage space. I do not need to extend the existing array's size. Is it possible to buy 3 new drives and build a second array through the same 641 controller? Do I need a new drive cage and/or second controller card? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Proliant ML 370 w/Smart Array 641
Hi Rob,
You should be able to add 3 more hard-drives and create a new array. Incase you plan to add drives 7 and drive 8 then you would need to buy a drive cage. Part # 244059-B21.
Regards,
Claud

Re: Proliant ML 370 w/Smart Array 641
Would I use the HP Array Configuration Utility in Windows or would I need to enter setup during POST for the 641 card? I want to add 3 drives in a RAID 5 configuration. Thanks.

Re: Proliant ML 370 w/Smart Array 641
Hi Rob,
You can use the HP array configuration utility (ACU) or press f8 at POST and configure the array from there. It doesnt really matter.

Claud
