Proliant ML 370

A drive on the system died and was replaced. We get a start up message "no scsi devices detected ergo no operating system can be installed the o/s was lost when the drive died . What do I need to do?

Which generation of a Proliant ML 370? The first generation (with no Gn at the end of the model name) is quite old. G2 is very different from that, and further generations have more differences still.

At least for G2 and G3, the generation ID is in the top left corner of the front plate, if the server is rack-mounted.

Does the system have a SmartArray RAID controller? If it has, check its configuration. If the RAID controller has no logical disks defined, you'll see no disk devices at all.

Also, check on the RBSU (BIOS) if the RAID controller is located on the 1st position in the BOOT CONTROLLER ORDER option!

It does have a smart array controller and 2 logical drives the controller is a 431
