Proliant ML110 First Generation - SATA Raid5 Problems

Hello,

in the last two weeks we have some trouble with defect harddrives (Maxtor) in about two years old ML110 servers. The replacement from hp ist Seagate. But the array is not running stable after changing the harddrive. After some hours the array gos into faile state. In the moment we have changed all the drives to Seagate and it seems to be good.

Here are my questions:
1. Is there someone who has similar problems?

2. Is there everyone who knows what the blue led means on the harddrive case?

Normaly the green led is flashing. But on the server with the three new Seagate Harddrives the three blue leds are simultaneously flashing.

Best Regards

Michael

Hello Michael,
Sorry I missed your first Question.
Yes, this could be possible, if the server is running on old firmware revisions, especially the Controller.

(Assuming you are on win2k3)

Re: Proliant ML110 First Generation - SATA Raid5 Problems

Hello Happy Dude,

with a look on the table you sent, i get the following answer to my problem:

Green LED Flashing irregularly
Amber, flashing regularly (1 Hz)
_____
The drive is active, but a predictive failure alert has been received for this drive. Replace the drive as soon as possible.
_____

This describes nearly the current state of my array. But the Amber LED from the table is Blue on my Server.
Is this the same state, Blue or Amber?

Hi,
I would say it has failed, or nearing its end. But again, update the firmware. Its important !
