When I press F8 to enter the SATA RAID utility at startup, it says "Utility found, Loading wait..." and the machine stays like that forever until you power it off!
Any ideas folks?!?!?!
(I left it overnight just to be sure!!!)
Here's a pic of it: http://swrt.co.uk/public/IMG_1369.JPG
Thanks

Re: Proliant ML110 G5 - F8 causes machine to hang (RAID utility)
No haven't tried either of them - it's a brand new system straight out of the box so didn't expect to have to do anything like that.
I'm also new to HP Proliant servers, so those tasks are new to me.

Re: Proliant ML110 G5 - F8 causes machine to hang (RAID utility)
I checked that latest System release notes, and my G5 already had the latest version of the SATA RAID firmware installed.
So I tried resetting the CMOS, and this time I was successfully able to F8 into the RAID utility! Many thanks Karlo.
Now I just need to figure out if I can have two RAID1 setups in the same machine, ie. 2 disks on RAID1, and another 2 disks on RAID1 (want to RAID1 the system disk, and RAID1 a big data disk). Is this possible or will I have to buy an additional RAID card?
Anyone have a link to the spec/manual of the G5's embedded RAID controller?
Thanks.

Re: Proliant ML110 G5 - F8 causes machine to hang (RAID utility)
yes I know it is a brand new server out of the box like you say but you know sometimes
Well both updating System ROM you can follow the instructions (installation) basically the System ROM update is done by a USB or CD-ROM
and the other one is documented very clear in that PDF
try and anything else let us know

Re: Proliant ML110 G5 - F8 causes machine to hang (RAID utility)
CMOS helps a lot
check the PDF that I linked
it very straight forward, and yes you can add 4 HDDs with no problem
http://tinyurl.com/39mndt
yes a few days I did that with 4 HDDs different sizes (2 80 GB and 2 250 Gb)
it worked fine
I had some difficulties trying to post this
that was took so long
"The system is currently unavailable. Please try again later. " you know
