Proliant ML110 G5 won't restart

A customer reports,

"I've got a HP ML110 G5 Server that is intended for an Exchange Server, i did a CPU & RAM upgrade, With MS Windows Sever 2008 HPC. The Installation Ran throughout, Machine was ready for Exchange to be installed, updates were installed. Then a restart was in order, after the restart i got an error code of [3 beeps...1 Long , 2 Short.. which according to my research says its a Video issue].  This issue has had me puzzled and I've changed the hardware i upgraded the issue still persists.

If anyone can help to shed light upon my issue, it would be much appreciated."

Re: Proliant ML110 G5 won't restart

Hi,

As I have seen 1 long and 2 short beeps usually occurrs due to Memory issues.

Workarounds:

Make sure memory modules are compatible with the server.

Make sure memory modules are securely installed.

Make sure CPU is also compatible.

Try with the original CPU and Memory modules and test.

If the above step works, then try updating the BIOS before upgrading CPU and Memory.

Try server with minimum configuration:

This server supports 8GB Maximum of PC2-6400 Unbuffered DDR2 ECC 800 MHz, see the QuickSpecs:

Good Luck.

Thank You!
