Re: Proliant ML115 BIOS Flash failure - cannot boot

i`m not sure but try :

jumper :
P136-- On --Boot block unprotected
Off-- (default)--Boot block protected
change jumper to ON prepare disc with update and turn on server with disk inserted , it should start to beep and execute update.
after update server should shutdown.
if You dont have any onther idea -try

Re: Proliant ML115 BIOS Flash failure - cannot boot

Ian,

Try the CMOS reset switch which can be used if the CMOS becomes corrupt. Here is the entry from the ML115 G5 Service Manual.

Clear CMOS
----------
You may need to clear the Setup configuration values (CMOS) if the configuration has been corrupted, or if incorrect settings made in the Setup Utility have caused error messages to be
unreadable.
To clear CMOS:
1. Perform the Pre-Installation Procedure.
2. If necessary, remove any accessory boards or cables that prevent access to the system configuration switch.
3. Locate the system configuration button (SW2) on the system board.
4. Press the button. AC power must not be connected.
5. Perform the Post-installation instructions.
6. During POST, press F10 to access the Setup Utility.
7. Load setup defaults by pressing F9.
8. Set time, date, and other system values.
9. Press F10 to close the Setup Utility.
NOTE: Clearing CMOS restore all system configurations and password default settings

I hope this helps.

Re: Proliant ML115 BIOS Flash failure - cannot boot

Thanks guys,

Found the BIOS Recovery jumper on the motherboard and reset that, then managed to boot from a RomPaq USB stick.

All sorted now!

Thanks

Hi,

I have the same issue but wanted to know what you do with the BIOS Recovery Jumper? I've tried removing it but no luck! It's just a two pin Jumper.

Thanks,

Vijay

Re: Proliant ML115 BIOS Flash failure - cannot boot

For future reference, since this is the only thing on google about this, in order to recover the BIOS -
1) Power off
2) Remove the jumper
3) Power on
4) Wait until a weird little beep sounds
5) Power off
6) Replace jumper
7) Power on
The BIOS has then recovered. At least that's how it worked for me.
